{"id":72,"date":"2014-05-19T11:48:20","date_gmt":"2014-05-19T11:48:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vishnushivamandir.org.au\/new\/?p=72"},"modified":"2014-05-19T11:48:20","modified_gmt":"2014-05-19T11:48:20","slug":"vedic-culture-and-varnaashrama-dharma","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vishnushivamandir.org.au\/new\/vedic-culture-and-varnaashrama-dharma\/","title":{"rendered":"Vedic Culture and Varnaashrama Dharma"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Real civilization is not concerned simply with man\u2019s animal needs \u2013<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>eating (ahaar,)<\/li>\n<li>sleeping (nidra,)<\/li>\n<li>defending out of fear (bhaya) and<\/li>\n<li>mating (maithun) but with enabling man to understand his relationship with God.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Literature describes three stages of spiritual development:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sambandha-to know our relationship with the Supreme lord,<\/p>\n<p>B)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Abhideya- to act accordingly and<\/p>\n<p>C)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Prayojana, toattain the purpose for which we establish our relationship.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In the scriptures, we encounter many principles which seem difficult in our modern day\u00a0situation. However, it is indeed necessary to understand the spirit behind the Vedic\u00a0injunctions and implant it in our lives. Vedic culture is so nice and perfect that we\u00a0should make earnest efforts to actually practise these principles in everyday life as\u00a0much as possible.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The subject presented in this paragraph deals with the duties and responsibilities of a householder, grihsastha, an integral aspect of the esteemed Varnashram during Vedic culture.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Lord Krishna is the creator Varnaashrama. Dharma beginning with the intelligent class of men,\u00a0technically called \u2018Brahmanas\u2019 due to their being situated in the mode of goodness (satva guna).<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Next is the administration class, technically called the \u2018Kshatriyas\u2019 due to their being situated in the mode of passion. (rajo guna). The mercantile class called the \u2018Vaishyas\u2019, are situated in the mixed mode of passion and ignorance and the \u2018Shudras\u2019 or labour class are situated in the mode of ignorance (tamo guna).<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Human society, all over the world can be classified in terms of one\u2019s work and\u00a0qualifications and not by birth.
